On November 9, 2025, the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate, with the generous support of benefactors like you, opened the doors of the new Home of Hope, in Chernivtsti. This home, like its counterpart in Lviv, is a sanctuary for girls seeking safety, education, and a brighter future.

What was once simply a two-story building has now become a place where dreams take root. Here, vulnerable girls - many affected by war, poverty, and loss - will find more than a shelter. They will discover care, empowerment, and the tools to rebuild their lives.

Why this matters

Across Ukraine and beyond, countless young women face unimaginable challenges - displacement, trauma, and lack of access to education. A supportive environment can change everything. It can turn despair into hope, vulnerability into strength, and uncertainty into opportunity.

A joyful inauguration and blessing

The opening of the Home of Hope was marked by a profound moment of prayer and gratitude. The celebration began with the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Mother of God. Following the Liturgy, Bishop Josafat Moschych, Eparch of the Chernivtsi Eparchy, blessed both the house and its chapel dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Lord.

During the ceremony, Bishop Josafat congratulated the Sisters on this joyful milestone and presented them with an official Decree establishing the House.

A vision brought to life

The Home of Hope grew from a mission both simple and profound: to create a safe, nurturing home for 10 female students aged 15 to 23 (six who are from socially vulnerable categories). The goal is holistic care - nurturing body, mind, and spirit.

Your gifts to Lubov SSMI Foundation provided 53,593 EUR in support toward this project, making it possible for the Sisters to purchase the property, along with adjoining land, and to renovate it to welcome girls and Sisters.

The location is ideal for student life - just a 20-minute walk to the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Mother of God, where the Sisters serve daily, and a 15-minute walk to Yuriy Fedkovych National University.

Preparing a true home

This milestone was made possible through faith, perseverance, and the generosity of many. Despite the hardships of war, power outages, shortages, and delays, the Sisters worked tirelessly to prepare the house for its first residents.

Upgrades and renovations included:

  • Installation of video surveillance, Wi-Fi, and a fire alarm system

  • Increasing electrical capacity

  • Plumbing repairs

  • Renovation and technical improvements on the entire first floor

  • Installation of a new boiler

Every improvement was made with one purpose in mind: to create a safe, stable, and supportive environment where girls can thrive.

What the Home provides

Here, the Sisters create a family-like atmosphere where girls can heal, grow, and prepare for a future filled with dignity and purpose.

  • Safe housing and study conditions

  • Counseling and psychological support

  • Educational and vocational training

  • Mentorship and life skills development

The Home of Hope is not just a project - it’s a life-changing movement of compassion. Together, we can ensure that every girl who walks through these doors finds safety, love, and opportunity.

“Your generosity is a living sign of God’s Providence and of your great love for the Church. Thank you for your support! We will pray in our monastic chapel for each benefactor.”
